Here on home soil we saw Elroy Gelant running a lightning quick 28:18 on a 10km road race in Cape Town(UWC Fast and flat). Also Kabelo Mohlosi clocked a 1:47.31 on the 800m at Tuks Stadium. Cheswill Johnson leaped to a 7.9m in the Longjump at the same meeting. Also at this meet we saw Constant Pretorius running a very quick 49.28 on the 400m Hurdles and youngster Kefilwe Mogawane ran 49.91!! Whilst 800m specialist Gena Lofstrand clocked a 53.81 on the 400m and young Kyle Blignaut threw 19.86m in the shotput.
Abroud Khotso Croc Mokoena pulled out another 8m jump of 8.07 this thime round. Pieter Conradie ran 45.58. Wayde van Niekerk ran a 19.84 on a 200m straight and Akani Simbine 10.21 at the Boston games. Simon Magakwe also ran a 10.21 over the weekend. Dominique Scott ran a 4:12.11 over the 1500m
At the annual Comrades marathon Charne Bosman settled for a 3rd place and first South African home in a time of 6:39:51 in the up run following her victory last year.
Athlete of the week however goes to Bongumusa Mthembu who won the grueling 86km race in a time of 5:35:34!
